Our Story

Where We Began

Calm Waters began with a simple idea: to offer meaningful, well-cared-for holiday stays along the Garden Route. Founded by Kecia, Dan, and Lionel Barry, the business grew through their combined strengths and commitment to exceptional guest experiences. As Calm Waters expanded, Kim Stadtherr joined the team, bringing fresh energy and expertise. What started with hosting our own home, Calm Waters Guesthouse, soon evolved into caring for the homes of friends, neighbours, and now a growing community of property owners who value personal service, consistency, and genuine hospitality.

Kecia, Lionel, Dan and Kim

We’re a close-knit team dedicated to creating warm, memorable stays along the Garden Route. Kecia leads client relations with genuine care, ensuring seamless communication from booking to departure. Lionel oversees property preparation and maintenance, making sure every detail is ready for our guests’ comfort. Dan supports preparation while managing the technical side of the business — analytics, pricing, marketing, and systems. Kim assists with preparation as well and handles photography, design, the website, and technical support. Together, we blend our strengths to offer thoughtful hosting and reliable property management.
